Bought this to replace an older model. It came with a dent. Never got to the correct freezing temperature and now I am out almost $1200 plus the already FROZEN food that we put in when it reached at least 32F degrees

This 17.3 cu freezer has done everything it said it would do. It works great so far. We have had it 3 months in the garage and it has kept food frozen at 0 in the South Texas heat.

Upright, spacious. Looks is elegant, so it belong to the W/D room.
there are 2 issues:
1. Door can't be adjusted to open from the other side, so the hinge is always on the right.
2. hard to open the door at times (seal tight) especially for little kids.
It works well, better than chest type that you buried your food.

We love the garage ready freezer! It also has the temp on the outside of door and an alarm if it drops below temp. The alarm is great! It is important because our last one stopped and we didn't know for over 24 hours.

We have a 15 cf GE upright freezer we bought a couple of years ago and like it very much. So when our 27yo Kenmore upright freezer went out on us, what did we do? We went and got another GE up right Freezer, this time a 17 cf. Both freezers are in our garage so are subjected to extreme heat in the summer and extreme cold in the winter. We like the fact that these are garage rated so it gives us the peace of mind that we have great protection for our frozen foods. We like to buy bulk, and meat when it is on sale, and we garden so these freezers are a big deal to us. We like the quality of these GE products. Thanks :)

So far everything is fine, a lot of space and easy to see items. A few things I am disappointed with. the handle is not reversible - I must have missed that. Also the suction of the door is soo good, that every time I open the freezer, I am actually pulling the entire freezer forward. Wish there was a way to lock the rollers once the freezer is in place.

I think this Freezer and I will get along just fine. I call it The Beast because it looks and feels sturdy and it cools extremely well - hence the 5 stars. However, I do have a couple of issues with it (although none that would deter me from recommending this freezer):
1) It only has 2 wheels in the back (it has no front wheels like most full size refrigerators have). So, in order to clean behind it or underneath it, I have to lift the front with a dolly.
2) The front feet are adjustable, but while the left foot is easily accessible for this task, the right foot is impossible to adjust because it sits between the door hinge screws, so pliers are next to useless (see photos - the front of my freezer stands on a thin fuzzy mat in my garage).
3) The compressor area has no cover in the back - a perfect home for dust and bugs.
4) GE advertises a 48 hour frozen guarantee if the power goes out (one of the reasons I bought this freezer), yet the User's Manual says only 24 hours (see photo). So what's up with that?
Anyway, the benefits of this freezer outweigh its shortcomings by a long shot, hence I fully recommend it, plus it is MADE IN THE USA, which is very important to me.

I purchased this freezer after the one that I was using started to have issues. The original one was close to 45 years old so I was really nervous about purchasing something new because I was so attached to the old one, being that it was my great grandmothers. However, I am having to store close to a $1,000 worth of frozen dog food at any given time so I needed something that I didn't have to worry about. The extra space in this freezer has been excellent. It being frost free has also been a great benefit, the original one was not frost free. So far, I am very happy with my purchase and hopefully will see this one last 45+ years.

We switched from our old deep freezer to this upright. It takes up less floor space but I especially appreciate that I can see what items we have now. With a deep freeze, many things stated buried but with the upright, everything is easily seen and accessible. I also like the little display on front simply because I can see that there's power to it.

So far, so good. After a couple weeks of use in a hot garage, this garage ready freezer keeps food frozen without issue. The controls on the outside are easy to see and use. The interior has a lot of flexibility - shelf and drawer adjustments and positioning.

I've only had the freezer for a couple of days, so cannot comment on its longevity, but I can say that I love all the features and the configuration of the shelves and drawer inside. Yes, it has 2 large bottom drawers, but also what I refer to as a "deli drawer" for small, loose items. This is such a great idea! It is in my garage, hence, I bought the garage ready model. I let it sit empty for 24 hours (you don't have to wait that long) then started filling it with already frozen items from another freezer. I will soon start putting fresh items and am sure they will freeze very fast. Because I buy in bulk and freeze vacuum sealed bags of food, I am using plastic bins to hold and separate items such as poultry, fish and seafood, pork, and beef. The door shelves are spacious and perfect for holding bags of frozen vegetables. Although I've only had it for a couple of days, this freezer meets my expectations and I fully expect many years of service.

Nice freezer BUT I deducted one star because it arrived in an undamaged box with a dent at the top and one of the drawers was cracked in one side and broken on the other. That is a sad reflection on GE's quality control. It makes me edgy about how well the freezer will do in the future if the parts I can see are damaged, how about the workings I can't see?

This freezer has ticked off all the boxes for me! The door closes tightly and it takes 2 hands to open. Great lighting inside. Ample shelf space. Has 2 large bins on the bottom and a neat slide out drawer under the top shelf. Compact yet ample storage inside the door for smaller items. The inside temp is displayed on outside of the door and a door-open prompt when the door is initially opened. There no negatives with this freezer.
